Pharaoh Brown
Pharaoh Brown Lands in Miami
Fri, Mar 14, 2025, 10:15 AM
The Dolphins signed Brown to a contract Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brown is an experienced veteran tight end with proven capabilities as a rotational blocker. He handled such a role across 15 regular-season appearances with the Seahawks in 2024, averaging 16.3 offensive snaps per game while drawing only 12 total targets. That skillset fills an area of need for Miami, with Durham Smythe having departed for Chicago in free agency.
Alexander Mattison
Alexander Mattison Joining Miami
Thu, Mar 13, 2025, 2:44 PM
Mattison is signing with the Dolphins, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Mattison is swapping teams with Raheem Mostert, whose deal with the Raiders was reported about two hours earlier. While Mostert perhaps has a chance to rebound from a disappointing 2024 and earn a key role, Mattison will merely be competing for a backup job behind De'Von Achane. The Dolphins presumably hope 2024 fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright secures the second spot on the depth chart, with Mattison essentially being a backup plan for the backup. It's a tough situation for earning playing time, albeit with the outside chance of a handsome payoff if injuries eventually thrust him into a starting role in Mike McDaniel's offense.
Dee Eskridge
Dee Eskridge Re-signs with Miami
Wed, Mar 12, 2025, 3:59 PM
The Dolphins re-signed Eskridge (finger) on Wednesday.
Analysis: Eskridge dealt with injuries in 2024, but he showed enough across his six regular-season appearances with Miami to convince the team to re-sign him. The gadget player and return man missed the Dolphins' regular-season finale against the Jets in Week 18 due to a finger issue, but he projects to be at 100 percent health for the start of offseason activities.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine Takes talents to South Beach
Tue, Mar 11, 2025, 5:34 PM
The Dolphins and Westbrook-Ikhine have agreed to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Undrafted in 2020, Westbrook-Ikhine has made at least 14 appearances in each of his five pro campaigns, culminating with career highs in receiving yards (497), touchdowns (nine) and targets (60) on 32 catches across 17 regular-season games in 2024. By joining a Dolphins receiving corps that employs Tyreek Hill (wrist) and Jaylen Waddle, Westbrook-Ikhine likely can't expect a bump in volume, but he could be in store for an even more productive season this fall considering the attention paid to the top pair.
Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson In line to back up Tagovailoa
Mon, Mar 10, 2025, 5:40 PM
Wilson has agreed to a one-year contract with the Dolphins, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Per Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, the Dolphins prioritized adding a steady backup QB option after the issues the team experienced last season when Tua Tagovailoa missed time. In adding Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Miami gains an experienced alternative with a degree of upside to work behind Tagovailoa in 2025. According to Schefter, Wilson's pact is a $6 million, fully-guaranteed deal that could grow to $10 million.
Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill Recovering from wrist surgery
Tue, Feb 25, 2025, 10:23 AM
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that Hill is recovering from left wrist surgery he underwent to address a ligament issue, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hill was listed on the injury report for much of the 2024 campaign with a 'wrist' designation, which helps on some level to explain his decline in production. He delivered an 81-959-6 receiving line across 17 regular-season games, a notable decrease after he'd exceeded 1,700 receiving yards in each of the prior two years. The veteran wideout pulled himself from Miami's finale against the Jets in Week 18, saying "I'm out," but he recently reframed those comments as mere frustration, saying "I don't want to go nowhere," per Louis-Jacques. Hill should be able to catch a football over the summer as he recovers from the surgery, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Tanner Conner
Tanner Conner Limited to eight games in 2024
Mon, Feb 17, 2025, 11:14 AM
Conner (knee), who ended the 2024 campaign on IR, secured three of four targets for 16 yards across eight regular-season appearances with the Dolphins.
Analysis: Conner landed on IR due to an undisclosed left knee injury in mid-November. The 26-year-old tight end remains under contract with Miami for the 2025 campaign, so it will be notable to monitor whether he's healthy enough to participate at the start of offseason activities.
Jack Stoll
Jack Stoll Headed for free agency
Mon, Feb 17, 2025, 11:01 AM
Stoll was not targeted across four regular-season appearances with the Dolphins in 2024. He also appeared in seven regular-season games with the Eagles, securing two of three targets for 10 yards.
Analysis: Stoll concluded the 2024 campaign on Miami's roster after having been claimed off waivers from Philadelphia. Back in 2023, he put up five catches for 38 yards (on eight targets) across 17 regular-season appearances with the Eagles. The 27-year-old tight end will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Alec Ingold
Alec Ingold Plays 15 games in 2024
Mon, Feb 17, 2025, 10:55 AM
Ingold rushed 10 times for 17 yards and one touchdown across 15 regular-season games with the Dolphins in 2024. He also secured 11 of 12 targets for 96 receiving yards and fumbled twice, losing one.
Analysis: Ingold handled his usual role as Miami's starting fullback, mostly contributing as a blocker but remaining capable when called upon as a runner or in the receiving game. He has two years remaining on his contract with the Dolphins.
Raheem Mostert
Raheem Mostert Expected to be released by Miami
Fri, Feb 14, 2025, 1:15 PM
The Dolphins informed Mostert that he will be released this offseason, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The move isn't yet official, but the Dolphins have informed Mostert's agent, Brett Tessler, of the impending move. It's a no-brainer for Miami and will clear more than $2.97 million against the salary cap. Mostert is coming off an extremely down year, rushing just 85 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns across 13 games just one season after leading the NFL with 18 rushing scores. De'Von Achane took over clear RB1 duties for the Dolphins, and even Jaylen Wright was playing ahead of Mostert for much of the year. Mostert turns 33 years old in April and may be running out of gas at this stage of his career.
Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill Still committed to Miami?
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 1:17 PM
Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus said Thursday that the wideout is still "committed to this Dolphin football team" despite his saying "I'm out" after Miami's loss to the Jets in Week 18, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Rosenhaus said Hill "had an excellent meeting with [general manager] Chris Grier and [head coach] Mike McDaniel," after he appeared to remove himself from the Dolphins' regular-season finale early, playing just 40 percent of offensive snaps. Across 17 regular-season games in 2024, Hill compiled just a 81-959-6 receiving line on 123 targets, his first time failing to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark since 2019. He remains under contract with Miami through the 2026 campaign, but after saying "it was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what's best for my career" following the team's loss to New York, it seems clear that Hill is open to, if not actively looking for, a change of scenery. Rosenhaus' comments may simply be an effort to make a potential offseason trade more achievable for the Dolphins.
Durham Smythe
Durham Smythe Involvement plummets in 2024
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 11:08 AM
Smythe failed to secure his lone target during Miami's 32-20 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
Analysis: Smythe's production totals declined notably due to the ascension of tight end Jonnu Smith in 2024, but to see him finish with just nine catches for 57 yards (on 17 targets) while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games was a more significant step back than anticipated. Though Smythe has one year remaining on his contract, the Dolphins have a potential 'out' this offseason for only $2.7 million in dead cap, a route that the team could realistically opt to take.
Julian Hill
Julian Hill Improves in Year 2
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 10:59 AM
Hill secured 12 of 19 targets for 100 yards across 16 regular-season appearances with the Dolphins in 2024.
Analysis: Hill managed to improve upon his rookie year receiving line of 6-48-0 (on nine targets) despite being held without a catch in Miami's final four games of the regular season. He'll work to continue his development during the 2025 campaign, the final year of his contract with the team.
River Cracraft
River Cracraft Season-best numbers in finale
Thu, Jan 9, 2025, 10:49 AM
Cracraft secured all four of his targets for 38 yards during Miami's 32-20 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
Analysis: Cracraft logged his first game of the year with more than one catch during the Dolphins' regular-season finale. A significant shoulder injury forced him to begin the season on IR, but even after retaking the field, Cracraft managed just seven catches for 66 yards (on nine targets) across eight appearances. The veteran wideout is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Jeff Wilson
Jeff Wilson Free agency looms
Wed, Jan 8, 2025, 12:43 PM
Wilson rushed twice for minus-4 yards during Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Wilson handled a depth role early in the year and down the stretch for Miami, though he was a healthy scratch for much of the middle of the season. Across nine regular-season appearances, the veteran running back tallied 16 carries for 57 yards and secured all three of his targets for 19 yards. The 29-year-old is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright Uninspiring rookie season
Wed, Jan 8, 2025, 12:30 PM
Wright rushed six times for minus-four yards during Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Wright saw his highest touch total since Week 12 during Miami's season finale, but the rookie fourth-round pick did little with his opportunities. Across 15 appearances in 2024, Wright rushed 68 times for 249 yards without a single touchdown and secured three of six targets for eight yards. The Tennessee product was touted as a big-play threat after he submitted a 4.38-second 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he logged only one run of 20-plus yards as a rookie. Even if the Dolphins opt to move on from veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson this offseason, Wright will need to improve heading into Year 2 to secure a notable role behind De'Von Achane.
Tua Tagovailoa
Tua Tagovailoa Hip injury not long-term concern
Tue, Jan 7, 2025, 1:15 PM
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday there's "no concern at all" about the long-term health of Tagovailoa (hip), who missed Miami's final two regular-season games, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tagovailoa logged just 11 regular-season appearances in 2024, first due to a concussion sustained Week 2 which led to a stint on IR, and then due to a hip injury that forced him to miss the final two games of the year. The 26-year-old had expressed optimism about his ability to play if the Dolphins had made the playoffs, but he'll instead turn his attention toward returning to full health in time for OTAs. Grier offered optimism about Tagovailoa's ability to "still ascend" in the future, Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports, but he also expressed that the quarterback's injury history and propensity for missing time has negatively impacted Miami's ability to attain playoff success, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Tagovailoa completed just 291 of 399 pass attempts for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2024, and with an eye toward 2025, it should be taken into account that the return of top wideout Tyreek Hill doesn't seem to be guaranteed.
Malik Washington
Malik Washington Ends rookie season with four grabs
Mon, Jan 6, 2025, 1:12 PM
Washington secured four of five targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Washington's rookie year got off to a quiet start, with just 10 grabs for 54 yards across his first 10 regular-season appearances, but in his last four games the sixth-rounder managed a 16-169-0 line on 20 targets. To see Washington compile some late-season momentum as a rookie is encouraging for his future prospects, especially with the development of Tyreek Hill seemingly wanting to move on from the Dolphins. If Washington can string together a strong offseason, he could earn a key role behind Jaylen Waddle for the 2025 campaign.
Raheem Mostert
Raheem Mostert Plays one offensive snap in finale
Mon, Jan 6, 2025, 1:03 PM
Mostert played one snap on offense and did not log a carry or target during Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets. He also played one snap on special teams.
Analysis: Mostert's disastrous 2024 campaign ended on a fittingly quiet note, as he totaled 85 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns across 13 regular-season appearances. The veteran running back also secured 19 of 23 targets for 161 yards. Mostert's production totals in 2024 stand as a sharp contrast to his 2023 numbers, in which he scored 21 times and surpassed 1,000 yards. The 32-year-old remains under contract with Miami for 2025, but the Dolphins have the option of a potential out for only $1 million in dead cap.
Jaylen Waddle
Jaylen Waddle Gains 50 yards Sunday
Sun, Jan 5, 2025, 10:12 PM
Waddle (knee) brought in four of nine targets for 44 yards while taking his lone carry for six yards in Sunday's 32-20 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Waddle successfully returned from a knee injury Sunday that cost him two weeks of game action. The star wideout had mixed results, catching just 44 percent of his targets for 44 yards. The lack of efficiency can be explained by possibly playing at less than 100 percent, in addition to the poor quarterback play of backup Tyler Huntley with Tua Tagovailoa (hip) sitting this one out. Waddle posted the worst receiving line of his professional career in 2024, finishing with 58 receptions for 744 yards and two touchdowns across 15 games played. With news of Tyreek Hill wanting out of Miami following Sunday's ugly defeat, Waddle could be in store for a huge jump in usage in 2025 if that scenario plays out.
